Summer Festival 2010

We had a fantastic day in June, the weather was hot and dry and between 500 - 600 people attended (it was difficult to count them as they did not stand still).
We had:
- Dog show (60 dogs were registered this year!)
- drumming workshop
- acrobat
- storyteller
- face painters
- children's art stall
- craft stalls
- bric a brac, books and childrens toys stalls.
There was a great community spirt, all the dogs were well-behaved (as were their owners who cleared up any mess promptly).
We asked people what they thought about the Festival, 25 people completed the evaluation forms:
Everyone said they had enjoyed the Festival. 22 people thought the length was right, 3 thought it too short.
When asked what they liked, people said:
- the atmosphere (friendly, relaxed, community spirit)
- dog show excellent
- drums for the children and tea and cake for me
- position of the festival
- performers
- cakes
- interesting stalls
- cheap books
- good variety
- people having fun and enjoying using the Park
When asked if there was anything they did not like, people said:
not enough food stalls; not enough shady areas; dog show great but too long; ice cream van (all profits should go to the Park).
When asked what would make it better, people said:
- more stalls, particularly craft stalls
- more for teenagers (dancing, sport)
- Barking dog class
- more structure re time of events
- more participation events
- more for children (fancy dress)
- Keep it the same as this year
We will look at all the suggestions and how to improve it for next year. Thank you for your comments. Thank you to the Management Committee members and the members who helped this year, it would not have happened without them.
